Rebel Relic offers a number of different relic guitars styled after the original vintage instruments from the 50s and 60s.  Because these originals are completely unaffordable to the average player, Rebel Relic does their best to make imitation relic guitars that are both affordable and look great.  Rebel Relic builds a number of different relic guitars and then sells them to collectors or musicians, but they also offer a number of different parts for those who ant to build their own relic guitars or need a replacement piece or two.

Unlike some relic guitar companies, Rebel Relic does not build custom guitars.  Instead, they build a number of different guitars and post them along with their sell price on their website.  You can order directly from Rebel Relic, or you can go through one of their international dealers.  While you can’t create your own custom relic guitar, you can order one of the many different relics the company makes.  They have a full list with images on their website.

Under their parts section, Rebel Relic offers Tonerider Pickups, Rebel Vintage, TV Jones parts, and more.  You’ll find a wide range of parts, including necks, pickups, bodies, and just about anything you need to make or repair your own relic.  While you can’t custom order a relic guitar from Rebel Relic, you can get just about everything else, making them a great company for those looking for a reasonably priced relic guitar or parts for their own instrument.

Building your own relic guitar can be difficult, especially if you can’t find the parts you need.  There are a number of different parts shops online, including Tricked Out Guitar.  This site features a number of different products that you may need when building your own guitar, whether it’s a relic guitar or not.  You can also find replacement parts here in case your guitar is in need of repair.

While Tricked Out Guitar doesn’t focus exclusively on relic guitars, it does offer many pieces of hardware that relic guitars need.  You can find bridges, plates, knobs, tail pieces, and more.  They even have a category for “Relik” parts.  These parts range from plastic to metal, and the crew of Tricked Out Guitar relics each and every piece themselves using their own relic techniques.  If you’ve got your own parts, you can also send them to Tricked Out Guitar and they will age them for you.  Many of the reliced parts they offer are genuine original vintage parts, including parts by Fender, Wilkinson, and Gretsch.

Tricked Out Guitar has pretty average prices, although you may balk a bit when you see how much their relic parts go for.  However, they do show you the list price so you can compare it to their price, and you do save a good amount of money.  If you want them to age some of your own hardware, you’ll have to email them for a quote.  While they may not be the cheapest site, Tricked Out Guitar does have a great selection of parts and their prices aren’t outrageous.

The Guitar ReRanch is a great place for anyone who is looking for wood dyes, nitrocellulose lacquers, or any other traditional type of finishing product for their relic guitars.  If you’re attempting to create your own relic guitar (and many people are going the do it yourself route these days), then you may be in need of one or more of these finishing products.  Guitar ReRanch certainly has a good number of options.  What’s more, they take the time to offer up information about their various products, which include wood dyes, sunburst colors, aerosol colors, and other supplies.  All of the products that feature nitrocellulose lacquer are created by Lawrence-McFadden & Co., a trusted name in the industry.

In addition to offering a large number of paints, Guitar ReRanch also features an in-depth section on how to refinish your guitars.  They have step by step instructions on selecting the finish, applying it to the neck, how to create Fender and Gibson sunbursts, and more.  The articles and instructions are very detailed and easy to follow.  Guitar ReRanch features a large image gallery showing how different guitars look after they’re refinished so you can get an idea of what you like.  If you find that you need help with your relic guitar, the site also hosts a discussion board where you can chat with other guitar enthusiasts.

If you’re out to create your own relic guitar, the team at Guitar ReRanch is the people to go to when it comes to finishes and color.  While they may not be much help in other areas of relic guitar building, they’re masters at what they do.

There are many different websites out there that focus on teaching you how to make your own relic guitar.  One of these is a part of the Wonder How To website.  Wonder How To has many different instructional videos on all sorts of topics—you can learn everything from how to cook certain dishes to how to do magic tricks and use computer programs.  Wonder How To also has a section on guitars, including how to play various songs and how to create your own SRV Stratocaster relic guitar.

The Wonder How To SRV (Stevie Ray Vaughn) Stratocaster video series consists of ten different videos.  Each is narrated by Rolijen, the creator of the series.  He begins by talking about how to select the proper body to use in building your relic guitar.  He then moves on to outline the various parts and tools you’ll need.  He will then guide you step by step through the entire process of creating your SRV Stratocaster relic guitar, even giving you some tips on tuning it at the end.

The videos themselves are fairly clear and easy to follow.  Rolijen does a pretty good job of detailing how to make your relic guitar.  Unless you have a laptop or a good sized work area near your desktop computer, though, you may find it easier to follow instructions that you can print out.  Also note that part one of the series actually contains both part 1 and part 2 (bodies and necks, respectively).

Would you love to have a great Fender SRV relic guitar?  Well, it may not be possible to find one yourself—Fender, while creating many different amazing relic guitars, hasn’t actually made a Fender SRV relic yet!  However, if you’re into doing things yourself, you can hope over to the SRVGuitar.com website and follow their step by step instructions for turning your Fender SRV reproduction into a great looking relic guitar.
