Starting in 1960, the Stratocaster guitar became quite popular, and many players began using the instrument.  This very creative decade all began with the 1960 Stratocaster, and now the Fender Custom Shop has created a 1960 Stratocaster Relic guitar that perfectly captures everything that made this guitar unique.  This relic has a limited run, however—Fender only made 100 three-color sunburst 1960 relics and 100 Dakota red relics.  Once they’re gone, these strat relics will never be available again.  This guitar came on the market in January of 2009, but you can bet it won’t be available for long.

This unique guitar features a select alder body and a Maple 1960s C shape neck that features a Nitrocellulose lacquer finish.  The fingerboard is made from Madagascar Rosewood and has a 9.5 inch radius.  The 1960 strat uses 21 Dunlop 6105 narrow jumbo frets and has three custom wound 1960s single-coil Strat pickups.  The middle pickup is actually a reverse wound/reverse polarity that allows for hum canceling when it’s in switch position two or four.  There are two master volume controls, and the guitar features five pickup positions.  The bridge is American vintage synchronized tremolo, and all of the hardware is made from nickel or chrome.  Naturally, the relic features an artificially aged finish that includes nicks, scratches, and aged pieces so that it truly looks like a 1960s Stratocaster.
