The Fender Custom Shop has created a number of great relic guitars in their custom shop special edition series.  One of these is the Classic S-1 Telecaster Relic Guitar.  This guitar has been custom-built by the Fender team to combine both a great vintage look with many modern elements.  The Classic S-1 Telecaster is available in two different colors: standard black and a three-color sunburst.  It comes in both new old stock and relic versions.

The body of the Classic S-1 Telecaster is made from two-piece lightweight premium ash, and the neck is made of maple and done in a large C shape.  The fingerboard on the Telecaster is also made from maple and has a 9.5 inch radius.  It has 22 medium jumbo frets and features two pickups: one vintage ’63 Tele single-coil for the bridge and one custom shop Twisted Tele single-coil for the neck.  For pickup switching, there are two positions: in the S-1 switch up position, you have bridge, neck, and bridge in parallel with nick pickups.  In the down position, there’s the bridge, neck, and bridge in series with nick pickups.  There are a few other features on the Classic S-1 relic guitar that are unique, including the Top Hat switch tip, the relic aging on the fingerboard, and the fact that the guitar is, like all relics made by Fender, artificially aged so that it looks like it has been used for years.
