Here’s another great relic guitar from Fender: the Limited 1964 Stratocaster Relic recreates the amazing guitar that was played by Joe Kubek and, of course, Stevie Ray Vaughan’s 1964 Strat he named “Red” after spray painting it red.  Fender has created this relic replica of the famous ’64 Stratocaster as a way of recognizing how awesome this instrument is.  There are only 150 available: 50 in black, 50 in vintage white, and 50 done in a chocolate three-color sunburst.  Yes, this means if you want to recreate Vaughan’s “Red” you’ll have to make a trip to the paint store.

The 1964 Strat is made out of an Alder body and features a C-shaped maple neck.  It has a 9.5 inch radius The Indian rosewood fingerboard features 21 6105 narrow jumbo frets, three master-built single-coil pickups, and a five-way switching.  This gives it pickup from the bridge, bridge and middle, middle only, middle and neck, or neck only.  It has two master volumes, and nickel/chrome hardware.  Like all of Fender’s relics, the 1964 Stratocaster has been done in a finish that appears to show years of natural wear and tear.  This guitar looks like it was from 1964 and includes nicks, a worn finish, aged parts, and other signs that make it look like it’s been heavily used for years.
