The Fender Custom Shop’s LTD Dealer Select series included a number of different Stratocaster and Telecaster models.  As part of this series, Fender has partnered with Make’n Music to produce some of these instruments, including the Make’n Music MVP 1960s Telecaster Heavy Relic Masterbuilt.  This relic guitar is as popular now as it was when the original model was introduced.  Those who used telecasters produced during the 1960s include Albert Collins, the man dubbed the Master of the Telecaster.

Today’s MVP 1960s Telecaster Relic Guitar comes in a variety of colors, including a three-color sunburst, standard black, Olympic white, candy apple red, shoreline gold, vintage white, and sonic blue.  All are done with a thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish.  The body of the Telecaster relic guitar is made from premium lightweight ash and has an off-center seam.  The neck is made from quartersawn maple in the mid 1960s oval C shape.  The instrument uses a dark Indian rosewood fingerboard with a 9.5 inch radius and 21 Dunlop 6105 narrow jumbo frets.  For pickups, the MVP 1960s Telecaster has two custom shop materbuilt Telecaster single-coil pickups, and the pickup switching blade can be set to either bridge, neck, or bridge and neck pickup.  When it comes to unique features, the Telecaster relic guitar includes a staggered vintage style tuning machines, a tophat switch tip, a knurled chrome control knobs, and a heavy relic finish that makes the entire instrument look like it’s been subject to years of wear and tear.
