This fine relic guitar also features custom metal appointments that match the plate and look great.  The body is made from alder, while the maple neck is bolted on and features a recessed steel head cap.  You have three options for the fingerboard: maple, rosewood, or ebony.  The frets are #6105 narrow tall frets.  The guitar features volume, tone, and a five way control, plus it uses three Trussart/Arcane single coils, although a a Humbucker, and two single coils are also an option.  Left handed Steel O Matics are available for left handed players.
The James Trussart Steel O Matic looks amazing and sounds just as great, but it doesn’t come cheap.  It costs $4799 if ordered new from James Trussart.

The Vintage V100TSB Les Paul Copy features two humbuckers, 22 Les Paul standard frets, a Tune-O-Matic bridge, and Wilkinson Double Coil pickups.  The body is made out of mahogany, as is the set on neck.  The top is maple.  The instrument also have a three-way selector switch.

Players all around the world love the Vintage V100TSB Les Paul Copy relic guitar.  Two of the key selling points are the fact that the guitar is of excellent build and sound and the fact that it is reasonably priced.

There are several other options available with the Don Grosh Guitars Bent Top Custom.  Players can purchase the guitar in either T or S shapes.  Three bridges are available: the Gotoh 1088T, a floyd rose, or a flat mount.  Likewise, there are a number of different pickup combinations to choose from.  All in all, this incredibly versatile instrument is both incredibly beautiful to see and to hear, and the fact that it’s so customizable means you can truly make it your own.

This means that each of the relic 1959 Les Paul Standard guitars that are created for this fiftieth anniversary project are designed from a two-piece maple top with a mahogany body.  The reason for this is the fact that it was this very combination of these two different types of wood that was seen as a vital part of this guitars legendary status.  The combination itself is one that managed to produce a wide range of tones while at the same time giving the guitar a sturdy build and creating a classic look.  To help highlight these wood colorings, you can opt for the guitar to either come in a cherry sunburst or a dark sunburst, but both versions have stayed true to their roots with a light colored mahogany back.

Excellent guitar

I bought this guitar yesterday and I must say it is AMAZING... I own a Fender Strato and an Ibanez RG220... all of them are cool, but the Gibson Les Paul Studio is the best of them.. great sound, very light and very comfortable to play. The best of all: Its VERSITALITY. You can play any kind of music with it and it will sound great. The guitar has great acoustic, which enhances sustain and has a very clean and warm sound. When I bought mine it came with a Gig Bag... I would've prefered the hard case, but the gig bag is good, so in the end is is a great product.

Beautiful and Versatile -- Great sound at a great price

I play mainly bluesy rock (a little bit of jazz, no metal) and was looking to buy a second electric guitar, and went into my local guitar shop to try this out. I wasn't particularly looking for a Les Paul, but after trying out a few other guitars (some of the Joe Satriani Ibanez's) I saw this lying around and was intrigued by the natural wood look. The look is a matter of taste -- I've seen people note it as a negative or as a positive. You have to check it out and see for yourself. Personally, I think it looks very cool and classy. Both my mother and wife thought it looked great, too, but, as I said, it's a matter of taste. 

Anyway, I picked it up and the first thing I noticed is that it is a lot lighter than the standard Les Pauls. I liked this, because I tend to find them a bit too heavy for my liking. I plugged it into a VOX AC 15 tube amp and proceeded to sit there for over an hour playing. The guitar has great tone and a variety of sounds, which it achieves with good quality Gibson burstbucker pickups. I really love the sound of this guitar when played through the VOX -- it can be really mellow and silky, fat and chunky, or bright, depending on how you adjust the settings. I find all three of the switch settings (rhythm, mixed, and lead) to be useful. The other nice thing is that since you have four knobs -- two volume and two tone (one for each humbucker) -- you can set them completely separately and then use the switch to go from (for example) a lower volume rhythm sound to a higher volume lead sound just by flipping the switch. This is pretty cool. My other electric only has one volume switch, so I can't do that. 

After surfing the web for reviews of this guitar (which are overwhelmingly positive), the only negative comment I saw (except for people who don't like the natural wood look, which is a matter of taste) had to do with possibly shoddy quality control at Gibson. One reviewer said he tried 9 of these guitars and each was set up differently. Knowing this, I asked to try both of the 2 guitars that were at the shop. I looked at them carefully, and they both seemed set up very similarly, and both played very well right out of the box. The action was really low, which made for great playing, but a little bit of buzz. Since this didn't come out when playing through an amp, though, I decided not to adjust it to make the action higher. In short, this guitar is very playable, and felt great in my hands. 

Basically, the sound is classic -- good for blues, jazz, bluesy rock, and hard rock, but probably not metal (not sure -- I don't play it so I wouldn't know). Despite being a bit lighter than the standard Les Paul models, this guitar has great sustain like all other Les Pauls. If you are interested in a Les Paul guitar, this is a great option for the under $1K category. If you can afford the more expensive models, then go for it, but this does not in any way feel like a cheapened "poor man's" Les Paul. It has solid construction and good quality components. 

The only other possible place where they might have cut corners on the components is the tuners, which may not be all that great, but you can buy a better set for $60 and switch them out. I'm playing mine for a while first to see how they go, and if they're not that good, I will switch them. If so, that would be a very minor flaw in what is a really great guitar and an unbeatable price. Also, it comes with a hard case (this might be changing soon, not sure) which is worth about $150, making the price even better. If you're shopping in this category, definitely check one out. I decided to pick up the VOX 15 too and they're sounding fantastic together!

Incredible Guitar - Great Value

I've played guitar on and off since my teen years. As a fan of 60s rock, especially Jimmy Page, I've always wanted a Les Paul. I wanted to delve back into guitar this year, and started looking at Epiphone Les Paul models until I found this for less money. 

The guitar lacks some of the frills of a normal Gibson LP, but it does not sacrifice quality or the classic LP feel and sound. A nice, solid mahogany body provides full LP sound and sustain for days (ok... maybe just a day or so!). The 50's style neck feels very good, and with a polishing or two the neck becomes very quick. 

The cherry, chrome and black finish is very sharp and gives the LP a unique look. As with the neck, the body feels a bit dry/rough upon delivery, but a quick polishing or two smooths everything out. 

My last electric guitar was an 80s Ibanez (in the 80s). I can still remember the feel of that guitar, and I'm blown away with the feel of the Les Paul. It's a heavier, solid guitar that just "feels" right to me when I'm standing or sitting. A wide range of sound available from the 3 way pickup switch and individual volume/tone controls. 

I might be a bit biased as it's been almost a 20 year dream for me, but if you are looking for s Les Paul as a first guitar or on a limited budget, this is the way to go. 

I only have one gripe - the strings were cut pretty short - sometimes just barely a single wind on the tuner post - and they didn't keep tune very well. I've since replaced the strings and I'm not experiencing such a problem with tuning.

So I've been playing guitar for a while now and I couldn't be happier with this axe. I had to adjust the truss rod, but everything went great from there. I like the feel of the fretboard and the pickups are AMAZING. I highly recommend this product.

Good guitar for the price!

I upgraded to this from an Epiphone LP. Setup was great right out of the box. I compared the two using the same amp and this made the Epi sound muddy. Nice clean sound from the BurstBuckers. I would definately recommend this.

These slabs are all the rage. For under a grand, you too can have a Gibson. No frills, mahogany, no binding on the body or the neck. Good electronics... Sort of like "The Paul" from the 80's except the pickup selector switch is in the normal Les Paul location and not the SG location. 

I had a "The Paul" and liked it alot. I test drove this at Guitar Center... not the Cherry model (which I love), but a brownish thing. It passed. 

Would I lay out the money for this? No. Why? While I have a Epi... it's been upgraded over the years and it suits my needs. 

If I had the 800 plus dollars would I buy one, if I didn't have the Epi? No. 

I would but an Ibanez RG 1570 and really rock the house. 

Comparable models? Okay, set in neck, H-H configuration. Hard bridge (not a whammy), 3 position switch.... FOUR, count 'em Four knobs to fiddle with. We're talkin' Schecter, Ibanez, ESP, Dean... But they don't have the "Gibson" name. If that's what floats your boat... Go for it. Nothin' special here, or at Gibson, unless you start layin' out 4 to 6 grand for a thrill, or ego boost. 

For my money. 1 Volume, 1 tone pot. H-S-H configuration, 5-way selector and a Floyd Rose or comparable bridge.... Jumbo Frets... Rock it. 

But... If you are really lookin' fer a Gibson, and don't have the 2.5 or 3 grand to plunk down on sa Les Paul Standard or Custom. This'll do -- Jist fine.

Yes - its worth the price

Just the facts: Paid the extra for the expedited delivery. Guitar arrived in hard shell case packed in original Gibson cardboard box - on time and no damage. Some buzzes coming from a and e strings, haven't done any tweaking yet. Fret work seems even, but a bit sharp on the ends. Neck feels just right - not too fat. Sound is classic Les Paul. No inlay on headstock - just a sticker. I would buy another one.

A question for guitar players?

I was looking up info on Jimmy Herring, the guitarist from Widespread Panic and I found this note on his favorite guitar:
Jimmy's "go to" guitar is a custom shop Fender Stratocaster built by Gene Baker in 1993. Unlike most Fender guitars, it is equipped with two humbuckers rather than 3 single coil pickups, and it has Dunlop 6000 fret wire (the highest guitar frets that are made).

Dunlop 6000's measure about .115" which is big. This allows you to make the proper note without pushing the string as far towards the fret board. With small vintage type frets like on my standard Tele your finger is touching the fret board so when you bend or vibrato there is some friction between the fret board and your finger which slows you down a bit, With taller frets your finger is actually kind of floating above the fret board and you can bend and vibrato faster and with less effort.

Should I lower the action on my telecaster?

I have a Fender '72 telecaster deluxe (reissue) that I bought second hand about 6 months ago. It plays great, except the action is quite high and hurts my fingers to play. I'm an intermediate standard guitarist, but I like guitars with low action.

Don't start making adjustments until you know what needs fixing. The truss rod is only part of the equation. The truss rod adjusts "neck relief" or the bow of the neck. Ideally, the neck should be very close to straight, with a teeny forward bow. You can check this with a straightedge....eyeballing down the neck isn't accurate enough. Alternately, you can put a capo on the first fret and press any string on one of the highest frets. This turns your string into a straightedge. At the midpoint on the neck, there should be a small gap between your string and the top of a fret.....the gap should be about the thickness of your high E string.....009 or so. As you know, this is adjusted by turning the truss rod. Be gentle. Do it in 1/4 turn increments and let the neck adjust.

Once the neck relief is adjusted, you can raise or lower the string height at the bridge. You can also check the top nut to be sure it is as low as possible. Think of it as a zero fret. The strings should pass over it at the same height as any other fret. When you're all done, don't forget to adjust the intonation. Chances are that all the adjustments will have thrown it off. Check the open strings against the 12th fret harmonic on a tuner. Move the bridge forward or back until the notes are the same. A lot of info here: http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/action.htm

A wide range of instrument amplifiers is now available, some for general purposes and some designed for specific instruments and even for particular sounds. Traditional guitar amplifiers come up with a clean, warm sound, a sharp treble roll off at 5 kHz or less and bass roll off at 60 to100 Hz, often with built in reverb and tremolo units. Bass amplifiers have extended bass response and tone controls optimized for bass guitars (or more rarely, for upright bass).

Higher end bass amplifiers sometimes include compressor or limited features, which help to keep the amplifier from distorting at high volume levels. Keyboard amplifiers have a very low distortion and extended flat frequency response in both directions. Keyboard amplifiers often have a simple onboard mixer, so that keyboardists can control the tone and level of several keyboards. Acoustic amplifiers are designed specifically to produce a clean, transparent, acoustic sound when used with acoustic instruments with built in transducer pickups and microphones.

While there are almost innumerable manufacturers of guitar amplifiers, we will be discussing the most important brands that have created history in guitar amplification.

Carvin Corporation

The Carvin Corporation is a musical instrument and equipment manufacturer, located in San Diego, California, well known among guitar players for their guitars. Carvin was founded in 1946 by Lowell Kiesel, and originally manufactured guitar pickups. Carvin Corporation manufactures acoustic and electric guitars, bass guitars and accessories, amplifiers, live studio sound equipments, microphones and lighting gears.

Korg Corporation

Korg Corporation is a Japanese multinational corporation that manufactures electronic musical instruments and guitar tuners. The company is one of the most widely used and respected names in the electronic music world. Founded in 1962 in Japan by Tsutomu Kato and Tadashi Osanai, Korg was originally known as Keio Electronic Laboratories because its fledgling offices were located near the Keio train line in Tokyo and Keio can be formed by combining the first letters of Kato and Osanai. Yamaha Corporation has always been a major partner of Korg, supplying them with circuitry and mechanical parts.

Marshall Amplification

Marshall Amplification is a British company which designs and manufactures electric guitar amplifiers. Marshall Amplifiers are well known and highly popular among guitarists. Marshall Amplifiers were originally built as direct copies of Fender amplifiers, but soon incorporated certain traits which made them more favorable to guitarists seeking a heavier sound. Like most professional level amplifiers, Marshall amplifiers still use valve preamp and power amplifier stages instead of solid state devices. Marshall also manufactures cheaper solid-state or hybrid devices.

Vox

Vox is a musical equipment manufacturer, which is most famous for making the AC30 guitar amplifier and the Vox electric organ. Founded in Great Britain, Vox is now owned by the Japanese electronics firm Korg. In 1959, with sales under pressure from the more powerful Fender Twin and from The Shadows, who requested amplifiers with more power, Vox produced what was essentially a double powered AC15 and named it the AC30.

Roland Corporation

Roland Corporation is a Japanese manufacturer of electronic musical instruments, electronic equipment and software. It was founded by Ikutaro Kakehashi in Osaka on April 18, 1972 with 33 million yen in capital. Some of the recent amplifiers from Roland Corporation are Roland SH 201, Roland Juno G, Roland MV 8800 and Roland V Synth GT.

The Gibson Les Paul guitar is one of the most iconic instruments in popular music. A number of variations of the base model have been introduced over the years, including the Gibson Les Paul Custom guitar. This is one of the pricier and highest quality guitars that Gibson makes. The LesPaul was designed by guitarist LesPaul in collaboration with Gibson in 1952.

The base LesPaul guitar was a response to the Fender Telecaster, which had pioneered the single body electric guitar design that was sweeping the rock, country and blues music scenes. The LesPaul had some differences, such as the strings being attached differently than other guitars. The Les Paul also differentiated itself by coming in many boldly colored designs.

The Les Paul Custom guitar was designed from the start to be a more high quality and stately guitar. It was nicknamed the Black Beauty for its slick black design. LesPaul stated that the design was meant to be reminiscent of a tux. The guitar's surface was made from solid mahogany, instead of maple like the standard model. Starting in 1957, the Custom was outfitted with the humbucker style pickup, giving it its defining bulky and warm sound.

The Custom of today has a sharper tone due to its ebony fretboard. The frets are also somewhat lower than those on your standard guitar, which has led to some calling the Custom the fretless wonder.

Many notable popular musicians have used the Gibson Les Paul custom guitar as their instrument of choice at one point or another. Artists from Carlos Santana to Peter Frampton to Eric Clapton have used Customs.

A brand new Custom today is worth several thousand dollars. They are no longer limited to just being Black Beauties; Customs have since produced with different finished including Antique White and Silverburst.

will a blank fender replacment neck fit my squire affinity stratocaster?

i got a new two piece maple neck for my squire affinity strat. im wondering if it will fit? will it be too big? do i have to sand the back of the neck down to make it not as tall?

it should fit since squire is just a branch of fender. i don't know for sure, but it seems right for it to fit since they are basically the same.
